SOE TEACHERS OF THE YEAR

Congratulations to our Teachers of the Year!

The 2013-2014 SOE Teacher of the Year is 
Mrs. Shannon Vossos.

To register a child for kindergarten, parents will need a copy of their child's birth certificate (or its equivalent), immunization records, social security card (if unavailable, a state ID number will be assigned), and proof of residence.  Proof of residence should include a deed, lease or mortgage agreement, a current utility bill (gas, water or electric) and an unexpired Texas driver's license (or other government provided photo ID) that contains the address of the parent or guardian residing within the FBISD boundaries.

In addition, a child must be five (5) years of age on or before September 1 to enroll in kindergarten in the state of Texas.

For more information regarding kindergarten registration, please contact the front office of Scanlan Oaks Elementary.  If you have friends or neighbors in the community that do not have siblings at SOE, please help pass the information a long!
The mission of Scanlan Oaks Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization is to provide support and enhancement of the education and welfare of the students of Scanlan Oaks Elementary and to promote open communication among the administration, teachers, parents and community.  The Organizations exists exclusively to promote the charitable, scientific, literary or educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or corresponding section of any future tax code.

SOE Mentors Needed
We are currently seeking volunteers for our SOE Mentoring program who can help make a difference in our SOE students’ lives and assist them in academics.  
Build a relationship with an SOE student.
Offer academic support through tutoring
Collaborate between the teacher and administrators 
in order to monitor student progress.

To Become a Mentor:
Sign a one-year commitment to meet with one student once a week for the school year.
Time with your student can be spent reading, tutoring, playing games & just talking about their interests
Observe professional standards of confidentiality. 
Stay on the Scanlan Oaks campus with mentee.
A background check is required for the safety of our students.
Mentors must attend a one hour, one time only orientation which includes training for communicating with young people and guidelines for working with FBISD students:
